FFrench Federation of Diabetics / France

Founded in 1938, recognized as a public utility in 1976 and approved since 2007 by the Ministry of Health for the representation of users, it is totally independent of any public institution, any private organization or company, and any professional corporation.

The French Federation of Diabetics is a patient association, at the service of patients and led by patients. With its network of about 100 local associations and delegations, spread throughout the country and its national headquarters, it aims to represent the 4 million diabetic patients.

The French Federation of Diabetics has set itself 3 social missions:

Inform, Guide and prevent

Defend patients individually and collectively

Support research and innovation

A balanced diet is an integral part of the treatment of a person with diabetes and also helps to limit the risk of developing it. For this reason, the French Federation of Diabetics has developed a wide range of activities in this field for many years, for example:

  • It offers on its website (www.federationdesdiabetiques.org), or through dedicated tools (booklets, videos, etc.) practical advice, balanced recipes, physical activity exercises, etc. for people with diabetes or obesity.
  • Thanks to its volunteers, it leads prevention actions in companies or with the general public, including “nutrition workshops”.
  • It offers awareness-raising programmes to volunteers and beneficiaries of associations reaching out to people in situations of social vulnerability (e.g. federation of food banks, restos du cœur,…), particularly affected by obesity and type 2 diabetes.
  • She has been working for more than 5 years in schools with pre-adolescents and teenagers by leading information sessions on type 2 diabetes.
  • It supports research and innovation in order to work towards the cure of diabetes, on the one hand, and to build and evaluate innovations that improve the quality of life of patients on the other.

Supporting the French Federation of Diabetics means enabling people to be healthier
