Obesity doesn’t concern me…

If we are all more or less concerned about our health, we do not necessarily consider that obesity concerns us directly. This may seem distant, a problem that concerns other countries or other families.

The term “obesity” can be frightening: indeed, according to the WHO, it is a disease. It has been cited as the «second global pandemic» to concern our time, after the experience of Covid-19.

Despite this, many people do not consider themselves affected by this disease…

However, the figures identified by WHO speak for themselves:

Since 1975, the number of obese people has tripled In 2010, the WHO had forecast an expected limitation of the disease. Not only have these limits been exceeded, but the organization expects the number of people affected to double.

By 2030, one in five women and one in seven men worldwide will be obese. This means that your loved ones, your friends, your neighbors will necessarily be impacted.

There are, of course, solutions at the personal, national and international levels.

What to do?

On a personal level:

  • Be aware that obesity can affect us all.
  • Establish good eating and physical habits.
  • Take care of your mental health.
