Did You Know?
- It is called orthorexia, the pathology consisting in the obsession to want to control its diet to consume only healthy products, for example from organic sectors, leading to the elimination of many foods (processed products, foods considered unsafe for health…). An individual suffering from orthorexia may prefer to deprive himself of meals rather than consuming “forbidden” or “impure” foods, preferring a specific diet (raw, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc.) and prepared by him, without medical indication.
For Info :
- Orthorexia is not considered a TCA per se, it often leads to a severe dietary restriction that can promote the onset of TCA. It can also cause deficiencies and other physical problems: tiredness, hormonal disorders…
Three Steps Forward
- Do not exclude any food, except of course on medical advice, for a particular cause (allergy…).
- Allow food pleasure, moments of greed.
- Exercise, monitor your sleep, avoid screens: take into account all the parameters of a healthy lifestyle, beyond diet.
